Is changing the "truth" / presenting "new light" really so bad?

playing devil's advocate here.... what's the difference between the gb changing bible interpretations compared to parliaments all over the world changing laws?

although the us constitution (=bible) remains untouched, congress passes i don't know how many new laws every year.

and of course people are expected to follow them.

Politicians don't claim a monopoly on "truth" and to be God's direct channel of communication on earth - but the org/G.B. does!!!

Also, truth is truth - it doesn't change.

"It seems that resurrected ones of the 24-elders group may be involved in the communicating of divine truths today. Why is that important? Because the correct identity of the great crowd (Christians????) was revealed to God’s anointed servants on earth in 1935. (Exactly how was it "revealed"? By Madame Zelda and her crystal ball at the local fairground? Go on, tell us!) If one of the 24 elders was used to convey that important truth, he would have had to be resurrected to heaven by 1935 at the latest. That would indicate that the first resurrection began sometime between 1914 and 1935. Can we be more precise? (No you can't, because fantasies are fantasies, and can't be precise))

Apart from anything else, in paragraph 11 the self-proclaimed "faithful & discreet slave" is unashamedly claiming that it may be receiving divine truths from a dead person who has been resurrected to heaven. This makes the G.B. "detestable" in their god's eyes - not just ours! Deuteronomy 18:11,12

After all calling every religion in Christendom "apostate" is a pejorative and derogatory slur.

Would the WTBTS apply such language to Islam? (silly me, rhetorical question!)

May the U.K.C.C. would be interested.

Interestingly, the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses is a fully paid-up member of the Christendom club - according to every authoritative definition of the word "Christendom."

The term 'Christendom' is universally defined as, Christians collectively, the Christian world, Christianity - except by the WTBTS/Jehovah's Witnesses who translate it as being "all religions which claim to be Christian, but are false." J.W.'s claim that they are not part of Christendom.

Not only do they perversely translate wordings in the Bible, they also want to bastardize dictionary definitions.

Just a side issue - can a registered charity (in the U.K.) make such vitriolic statements about similar charities, with impunity? I've never heard Catholics or Mormons publicly say such nasty things about J.W.'s

Found Another Medieval Coin This Evening

i got in an hour metal detecting this evening and found this almost immediately.. it is a silver penny of henry ii minted in london by "davi" between 1180 and 1189. this adds a king i didn't have in my collection.

i now have the series of henry ii - john - henry iii - edward i - edward ii - edward iii.. i now need richard the lionheart to fill in the gap.

he was the brother of john and reigned after the death of henry ii.

i sat in town recently, right in the window of a nice wee pub.

within minutes i realised that i had a perfect view of a jw cart and the two ridiculously dressed jw's (they have absolutely no individuality at all.

what's more, they all look like they're going to a funeral).

jambon - it's all about the monthly report, as we all know. They couldn't care less whether people talk to them or not.

Three hours in the pub???? Did you tell your friends, "Take me drunk, I'm home!"? :)

Joseph and his generation

so the wt used ex 1:6 to define a generation from the very beginning.

then in the this september broadcast the same person (splain) who spent 20 min with charts to explain a generation, makes a point that joseph and his brothers were very close in age?

(min 4:29).

(Job 42:16) "After this Job lived for 140 years, and he saw his children and his grandchildren—four generations."

I liked arithmetic at school; 140 divided by 4 = 35!

Also -

(Numbers 32:13) "So Jehovah’s anger blazed against Israel and he made them wander about in the wilderness for 40 years, until all the generation that was doing evil in the eyes of Jehovah came to its end."

It appears that the RNWT indicates a generation to be 35-40 years. On that basis, the WTBTS's "overlapping generation" should have terminated no later than 1980 - at a stretch!

i haven't seen anything here about the annual meeting just a month away now.

Perhaps 2 or 3 new "slaves" will receive their calling to ascend upstairs - both at Brooklyn and to heaven!! :)

My favourite would be Mr. Malenfant. He seems to be prominently climbing the pyramid, and not hiding his light under a bushel!

We all "shun."

an old friend of mine committed suicide this week.

he was a great guy; pleasant to be around, a hard worker, kind.

everybody at work liked him.. then something changed.

I truly feel for your loss.

Your friendship and affection for your lost friend are self-evident, but tragically, such sincere displays may never be enough to rescue loved ones out of whatever darkness they have been pulled into. You honestly did what you could, but he couldn't see any light in his life.

May such tragic souls encourage us all to view our friends and family as beautiful and precious gifts - and to tell them that they are such.

no words or score on the jw page yet.

can't say that it sounds any different than any of the other songs they produce now.

I cannot imagine what thoughts flood through long-time Witnesses' minds as they sit in little groups watching these self-publicising charlatans spout out monthly propaganda to their followers.
